ANTAS is an association of local civic societies working to ensure high standards of planning and architecture in our towns and villages, and the care and preservation of our countryside.  We have a current membership of 21 societies mainly in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and would like all civic societies in the region to become members of ANTAS and to be active in the work of the Civic Trust South-East or the East of England Association of Civic Trust Societies (EEACTS).  ANTAS member Societies are taking a keen interest in the Civic Society Initiative which aims to build a new organisation to provide a national voice and support for the Civic Society Movement following the Civic Trust being taken into administration early in 2009.

We hold two meetings a year. These are attended by representatives from our member societies and provide an opportunity for vigorous, lively and informative discussion on matters of common interest. A wide range of guest speakers on planning and related subjects has also proved popular with members.

Apart from these meetings, officers of ANTAS receive comments from the Association's member societies about Government consultation papers such as revisions of PPSs (Planning Policy Statements) and coordinate ANTAS responses as appropriate.  We support our member societies in their dealings with local planning authorities and provide help and advice wherever possible.
